Your deli bamboo is okay in my book, though some would say it's not real bamboo....

Ash, I don't know if this bamboo is edible or not, but I love bamboo shoots added to my food sometimes.

Tut, is kudzu the same as "mile a minute" vine? I'm steering clear of that stuff, for sure. However, there are periodic calls put out by the National Zoo for bamboo - for the pandas! One can also buy a clumping bamboo that is much more mangeable.Staceyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01058252428343107079noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7420871845813973733.post-88556331694447199902010-01-22T08:17:02.023-05:002010-01-22T08:17:02.023-05:00Just don't plant kudzu. We have bamboo that is starting to spread forward and crowd out and eventually kill the low-lying junipers so this spring, we have the monumental task (or at least paying someone to do that monumental task) of digging the ground and putting down a rhizome barrier. We should have done it in the beginning!PamHMGhttp://www.hookmountaingrowers.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7420871845813973733.post-55457510467164733732010-01-18T18:26:20.072-05:002010-01-18T18:26:20.072-05:00I had no idea one could do that many things with b...I had no idea one could do that many things with bamboo. It's so beautiful, and there are varieties hardy enough for up here. As I recall, it was pretty straightforward to control it. It's attracted towards water, so maybe if you water that corner of your yard a lot,it will come towards you.khttp://dottedyellowline.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7420871845813973733.post-79705459237565368852010-01-18T10:49:33.313-05:002010-01-18T10:49:33.313-05:00ENJOY IT! I spent so many hours as a teen trying to eradicate it from our forntyard that I have a phobia toward it. Truly! It's not that it's invasive and takes over it's that once it's planted it is there forever. That being said I love bamboo poles in the garden. I say use them to grow beans or make a trellis.tinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17415302577518111227noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7420871845813973733.post-46312172565733901572010-01-18T08:30:35.327-05:002010-01-18T08:30:35.327-05:00Hm, can you arrange them into some sort of bamboo ...Hm, can you arrange them into some sort of bamboo trellis, or entranceway to a part of your yard/garden?Joannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03972054718663959694noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7420871845813973733.post-69382326547055472442010-01-17T22:15:28.565-05:002010-01-17T22:15:28.565-05:00It looks pretty and is useful!
