Garden Blogger's Bloom Day: New Mexican Blooms

I've been saving these photos, taken on a recent visit to Tecolote, New Mexico (near Santa Fe) for bloom day. I need help identifying some of them, like this first one. I know that it is not flax. It looks a lot like vinca but with smaller leaves. I now have it on very good authority, Mr. McGregor's Daughter, that this is phlox. Thanks, MMD! Another mystery flower.....

I believe this is called a "Texas Thistle"....

These sunflowers are everywhere, growing in patches along the roadsides....

This might be "broomweed" or desert aster....

This is purple nightshade.....

The very common Mexican Hat.....

  2. I'm no help on identifying flowers from New Mexico, but it's nice to see what they have blooming, too!

  3. The 1st photo is definitely a Phlox possibly bifida.
