What We Look Like

Here I am at my very finest, and this is how I would have greeted you if you had chosen to trick or treat at my house last night. Unfortunately, only 3 little goblins did! Where did all the trick or treaters go?

After hitting the 3 houses in our neighborhood that give out candy, my kids went over to haunt Valley Cottage, a neighborhood near their school. Pocahontas and the Grim Reaper were chaperoned through the cosmos by Neo (The Matrix).

Guess what? We're opening a candy store! Only $1.50 for a Mary Jane. Haven't sold too much yet..... How about a Kit Kat?

You look great -- and looks like the kids got a pretty good haul!

We didn't get many either; but I had a first-timer who was a little doll.

Halloween is the most hilarious holiday. We got a trick or treater last year. She was dressed as a mouse, and I would have given her all our candy but her mother vetoed the idea. Kids seem to just go to parties now. This year -zero.

I've read on a few blogs that there were little or no trick or treaters this year. I think I'll wait for the Clearance Sale on the Mary Janes :)

We noticed the trick or treat crowd was smaller this year too. What gives?

All of your costumes look great!

I don't think kids trick or treat anymore? My parents (whose house I was at on Friday night) probably only had half a dozen trick or treaters.

More candy for us! Great costumes. I hope the kids had fun!

My son had three groups.

I have an award for you, please come by my blog.

Our school has a villians day planned for tomorrow, my two girls are going in black.

Love your mask, very scary! We had 31 kids, not bad considering we are up a lot of stairs. My daughter cleaned up, also sorted her candy very carefully and then counted it - 89 pieces! Needless to say, some of it is going to "disappear"...

Well, I found out where the kids were trick or treating on Friday night... the mall! The MALL!!
Now THAT is scary, isn't it? (I live only about 3 blocks from one of the biggest malls in New York).

I guess if the kids were very young or they had mobility problems or the weather was bad, I could understand. But where's the challenge, the "darkness", the connection with the neighbors??

Halloween has definitely changed. Most of our neighbors don't open their doors (many are from cultures that don't celebrate Halloween) My kids even ended up going to another neighborhood that was more receptive.

I think I wanna live in Karen's neighborhood!
