Garden Bloggers Bloom Day in Nyack, NY

Garden Bloggers Bloom Day is hosted monthly by Carol on her award-winning blog May Dreams Gardens. If you visit there today, you'll find links to photos of blooming gardens all over the world -- most of them much more coloful than mine.

Today it is 9 degrees outside and snowing. I think I'd rather look at the garden from this angle.

Yesterday was nice and sunny, though and I found that the yard wasn't totally without color and interest. Nothing that could fairly be called a "bloom" though.

I took Ms. B. for a walk around the neighborhood a little, but didn't see anything that wasn't snow or wood.

Back inside, I brought in some frozen hydrangea and let them thaw out in a dried bouquet.
Primrose were only $1.49 at ShopRite. They also had some holiday cactus in 5 gal containers for only $2.99. Kicking myself for not buying one of those.

Looking forward to hopping around the blogs and seeing some real flowers today!

Who's that ancestor up on the wall?

I love to see trees that have "winter interest": peeling barks or berries or seed pods.

Love the hydrangeas arranged as you did them in the cool vase with embroidered cloth beneath. Snow snow everywhere, huh? Brrr!

I think you should get the cactus when you go back. I love those holiday cacti. I have three. Your landscape is beautiful and serene looking even without blooms.~~Dee

Hi Jen, at least you have some bright & colorful blooms indoors to cheer you up! :) The snow really changes the look of the garden, but those red berries really pop against the white. Happy GBBD!

We said goodbye to snow when we left Canada but I still think it is nice to see snow in the garden in winter. Better than the dreary brown look. Those primroses are lovely and what a bargain. I'd certainly be picking up a few if they were selling them here.

Hey Jen, very nice photos. I'm not sure about hellebores up your way. They do mighty fine here. In fact, I heading to Dick and Judith Knott place at Knott Farm (all Hellebores) next month. Can't wait. Thanks for visiting.

The winter landscapes are so pretty! Great photos, my daughter loves the hydrangea arrangement, her favorite flower. No flowers on my blog today, but there is a beach picture! I'll have to go look now and see if any landscape gems are hidden in there.

Hello! Yesterday when I tried your link lead me to believe you didn't have a blog, but I clicked your link from Shirl's blog and it brought me here. And now your link (from my inbox) works too. Strange!
I see we're both in NY state :)
Yes, nothing but snow outside. Your hydrangea arrangement is lovely. I meant to bring some in too. Must have a search outside!
What a great buy on the primroses. I hope to bring some home soon :)
You should try the begonias. Beautiful, arent' they? And generally easy.

Ooh! What a bright pick-me-up! Thanks for braving the cold for all those pictures though-everything looks so nice with the blanket of snow.
