We find wild blueberries at Arrow Park. 
In some woods near our house- and all over Nyack - there are tons of wild raspberries. They don't look at all like the raspberries we buy in the store. See how shiny they are?
We picked for about 20 minutes on Saturday morning and brought home about 3 pints! 
This is my favorite thing to do with them. (How about a little cereal with those berries?)

Only blackberries. They were brought to our country in the early days.
We have roadside apples & plums.
We grow our own raspberries now, and found some baking recipes for them. When I was little my Mum made jam with them.
This was our experimenting this year.

Oh, lovely! My (domestic) raspberries are just starting to ripen. I'm so glad I didn't pull them out! Lucky you to have wild berries to harvest.

We have wild black raspberries -- they have come and gone but I picked a couple of quarts back in June.
I've planted on occasion blueberries, strawberries, and thornless raspberries - - no luck (the neighbors rampant use of of Round Up didn't help). Now a huge patch of wild raspberries has grown down near the beehives and we're all happy.

Our wild blackberries seem to be having an off year (after a boom time last). Our favorite EVER wild berries were the high-bush blueberries that grew around the cove at our last home. We picked them from the canoe. Oh, that was sheer heaven. Floating, talking, picking, eating. Some of the happiest hours of my life.

Black raspberries are delicious, too. I've also had trouble growing blueberries.
June, the blueberries that we pick are near the water too. You've given me an idea - maybe we could pick more in the rowboat!!

The photos of the children are gorgeous. They bring back very sweet memories of when my daughter was young and we berry picked.
