Holiday Boutique a la Russe

Here's an annual event in Nyack that I try not to miss.  It's the "Holiday Boutique a la Russe" at the The Holy Virgin Protection Russian Orthodox Church.  This year it will be held on Sat. Nov. 20 and Sun, Nov. 21.

Go for the gift shopping (lots of beautiful handcrafted ornaments and jewelry), or the food (my favorite are the little meat dumplings served with vinegar and sour cream), and try to time your visit for the music and dancing.  The atmosphere is just magical (think Nutcracker!) - can't imagine a better way to get into the holiday spirit.  They offer tours of the beautiful church sanctuary - try to get in on one of those, too.

Do you have a favorite holiday event or festival that you're looking forward to this year?

That looks like so much fun, JGH! I have a church bazaar and an art centre holiday bazaar that I never pass up. As well, there is my favorite little store that just had their annual Christmas sale. They carry amazing hand-crafted stuff that never fails to delight. These are my favorite places for getting those one-of-a-kind gifts.

I love events like this. The Polish National Home here does something similar. I like even taking a ride through a local park that is completely decorated with hundreds of light displays while Christmas music plays. It's a great time of year, enjoy!

It looks like fun indeed! I just bought my son an old Russian violin and just love it. I'm hoping he loves it as much as me:)

That sounds like a fun event!!

BTW, I have saved some habanero seeds. I can send you some if you are interested in trying the seeds. I'm not sure if the original plant was a hybrid, so if you are interested in experimenting, send me an email here, and I'll drop some seeds in the mail for you.
