Fear in My Heart

My son uttered a sentence today that I thought I'd be safe from at least until October 1st. It was this: "Mom, we have to make the GRAVEYARD even BETTER this year." To say that my kids are into Halloween is a gross understatement. To hear this sentence during the first week of August tells me that next week I may be asked to get the decorations out of the attic.

So he wants a better graveyard. It was not enough to buy styrofoam sheets from Lowes, cut them into gravestone shapes, spraypaint them grey, "carve" epitaphs into them with permanent marker, anchor them in the yard with stakes and rocks, pick them up from the corners of the yard when they blew around, glue broken ones back together, pack them up in garbage bags and put them into the attic for future homemade cemetaries.

I'm feeling it. Something wicked this way comes.....

Ha! You have a child after my own heart.

My Dad still looks at me sometimes and shakes his head... like where did this odd child come from?
